On January 16, 2016, Sunlion Piping Engineering Co., Ltd participated in an outdoor activity in Liudao base, Jiading, Shanghai. The participants were all employees and some of the business partners. Not only did this activity helped new colleagues quickly integrate into Sunlion family, but it also encouraged us for better work in the New Year.
The activity began at 9 am. We broke the barriers and established mutual trust after the half-an-hour ice-breaking. 33 members were divided into two groups, respectively named Sun and Lion, which is SunLion when put together. It symbolizes the sun with vigour and hope, and the lion with explosive power.
The first game was the “tram”. We worked in groups of 4 to 6 members, with feet on two planks and hands holding the ropes. We needed to get to the destination 20 meters away within a set time. Only if we walked in unison and make concerted efforts could we succeed in this game. It is alike when we work in a company. Privity is the top criterion of cooperation. By working together for the same goal we can accomplish the goal successfully and efficiently.
After enjoying the barbecue at noon, the two teams continued the game. The first activity in the afternoon was the “crazy market”. In this game there were 30 cards with pictures representing numbers from 1 to 30. The request was to hand in the cards to the trainer in order with 3 opportunities, each limited in 60 seconds. Through this project, we learned that effective communication among team members is very important. It is also essential to attach importance to information acquisition and sharing inside the company and the industry.
After a stress-relieving game, we challenged the “trust and fall”. Every member had to stand on a platform with his back to teammates, and the others should catch him when he fell backward. There were two members suffering from very serious acrophobia. Because of the encouragement "we love you" from other teammates, they broke their psychological barriers, and completed the task with strong belief in the teammates.
We worked together for the final game “survival wall”. It was a simulation of a scene during World War II, where 39 crews of a German merchant ship had to climb over 4-meter ship for the chance of survival. The whole team must climb over the wall without any tools. The only thing we could use was strength and wisdom of ourselves. It originally required 20 minutes accomplish the task, but finally it took us only 4 minutes and 2 seconds. That was due to the team cohesion, encouragement to each other and belief in success!
This activity not only helps new colleagues to quickly integrate into the company, but also helps others to understand the meaning of “team” more deeply, have faith of the company, and be full of passion to meet challenges in the New Year. We all believe that the spirit of solidarity is the key to overcome all difficulties and obstacles in 2016!
